For the longest time, if you were diagnosed with heart disease your doctor told you to avoid drinking caffinated drinks, especially coffee. The fear was that the increased levels of caffine would put undue stress on the heart and increase the chance of death.

A recent study as debunked that claim. The study followed 12,000 U.S. nurses with a history of heart disease or stroke, and found that those who drank coffee- in some cases up to 4-5 cups a day- were no more likely to die than nondrinkers over the span of the study period. In some cases the study spanned more than 20 years for some participants.Furthermore, no link at all was established between coffee and heart disease. Even when taking into account weight, blood pressure, and age no link was found. What this study means is that those who have heart disease don't have to give up their coffee: "What this study shows is that, in a general population, there's no obvious harm, or benefit, to consuming coffee after a heart attack," said Ahmed El-Sohemy, an associate professor at the University of Toronto.
This is great news for coffee drinkers since coffee has continued to get a bad rap. And we can't help but think that by drinking our healthy coffee, you'll be doing yourself a favor inthe long run.
