Well, not really. It's time for a little debunking of an urban legand. For whatever reason, this factoid has been floating around and used in numerious academic sources but with no citation. Perhaps when people think of the amount this beverage is consumed, they think it has to take a lot to make it. However, according to this article on Entrepreneur, its not the second most traded good...or the third, or even the forth. Heck, its lucky ot break the top fifteen!
Oil is, of course, the most traded, followed closely by other metals such as aluminium, copper, and other alloys. With ag products its wheat, cotton, meat, milk, honey...and then coffee. Coffee comes in as a 22 billion dollar industry per year- not chump change by any means, but no where near number 2.
Now you know! And we gave a source.
Tyler's Coffee- not only is it acid free...its educational!
