Take a stab at the coffee that commands $300 a pound.
It's not from Hawaii. Or anywhere in N. or S. America. Still stumped?
It's from Indoneasia. And it involves a rare animal. Rest assured the animal isn't harmed. Give up?
It's called Kopi Luwak gourmet coffee. And it passes completely through the digestive tract of the Indonesian Palm Civet (aka: Luwak) without being digested by the animal.

The Luwak eats and eventually passes the undigested coffee cherries in it’s waste. Then someone is paid to patiently sit and harvest the cherries from the jungle floor (now you can see where some of the cost is...). The digestive juices of the animal are said to slightly ferment (hmmm...) and adds a gentle nutty flavor to thefinally product. The bean is highly sought after by coffee gormets. Well, perhaps not this one.
Tylers Coffee....our beans go from harvested to roasted without an animal's help.
