We get a lot of mail here at Tyler’s Coffee, we try to respond to each one since we love hearing from our customers! We’ve noticed a recurring theme on some questions and thought we could just answer them here:
Packaging
The Mylar perk pack contains 2 oz of coffee, is sealed and pumped with nitrogen to reduce the chance of oxidation. See, when coffee (or anything for that matter) oxidizes, it becomes more acidic…and in our case this is something we simply cannot have.

The commercial pack, which contains 5 perk packs. So what’s the reason for the double packaging? Again, oxidation is the answer. If we were to place the grounds directly into the black bag, which we could because it is food grade, as soon as you open it all of the coffee would be exposed to the air and start oxidizing. And since there is 10 oz of coffee in there, the acid levels would increase quite a bit by the time you got to the bottom of the bag. Therefore, we double package to ensure our coffee stays acid free.
How do you roast it?
Well, we really can’t tell you the secret, but we can tell you it is really, really sweet!
Why is it not ground uniformly?
We do this so that you can use our coffee in ANY method you want- drip, press, perk, espresso, etc. The mix grounding allows our product to be used without further processing by you- thus saving you time and effort!
Thanks for writing everyone and we look forward to serving you an awesome cup of coffee!
